 Landec’s partnership with Monsanto uses Landec’s proprietary temperature activated Intelimer® polymer technology for agricultural seed coating. Landec and Monsanto entered into a worldwide co-exclusive licensing agreement in December 2006. Landec and Monsanto will commercialize existing products and develop new applications for Intellocoat® seed coating technology. Monsanto will provide the resources for marketing, sales and technical support while Landec focuses on research and development activities.
Landec Ag currently has three commercial product families: 1) Early Plant® Corn coatings allow farmers to plant 3-4 weeks earlier than normal in the spring broadening the planting window and serving as a planting management tool. The seed coating protects the seed from imbibing moisture until soil temperatures are ideal for germination. This helps farmers plant all their crops on time, maximize yield potential, avoid late planting losses and lower post-harvest drydown costs 2) Pollinator Plus® coatings, eliminate split planting operations and reduce weather related risks in seed production of hybrid corn and 3) Relay Crop Soybean coating is a double cropping system that allows farmers to grow two crops in one season in a single field |
